Chinese style BBQ pork, also known as char siu, is a popular dish that is loved by many around the world. Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds of pork shoulder
  • 1/4 cup of hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup of soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup of honey
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon of Chinese five spice powder
  • 1/4 cup of rice wine vinegar

Instructions:

  1. Start by preparing the marinade. In a bowl, combine the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, Chinese five spice powder, and rice wine vinegar. Mix well until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  2. Cut the pork shoulder into long strips, making sure they are all roughly the same size. Place the pork strips in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish.
  3. Pour the marinade over the pork, making sure each piece is well coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to fully penetrate the meat.
