- 2 tablespoons of Chinese rice wine or dry sherry
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon of Chinese five spice powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of white pepper
- Red food coloring (optional)
Special equipment:

Instructions:
- Cut the pork into long strips, about 1 inch wide.
- In a bowl, mix together the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, rice wine, garlic, five spice powder, white pepper, and red food coloring.
- Add the pork strips to the marinade, making sure each piece is fully coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Thread the marinated pork strips onto bamboo skewers and place them on a baking pan lined with foil.
- Bake the pork for 20-25 minutes, or until it is cooked through and slightly caramelized. You can also broil the pork for a few minutes at the end to get a nice charred finish.
- Serve the Chinese BBQ pork hot with steamed rice or noodles. Enjoy!
Tips:
- If you don’t have Chinese rice wine or dry sherry, you can substitute with apple juice or chicken broth.
- Feel free to adjust the amount of honey and red food coloring to suit your taste preferences.
- For extra flavor, you can sprinkle toasted sesame seeds or green onions on top of the finished dish.
