How to Season a Chinese Wok

Seasoning a Chinese wok is essential to ensure it performs at its best and lasts a long time. Not only does proper seasoning prevent food from sticking, but it also creates a natural non-stick cooking surface that enhances the flavor of your dishes. Step 1: Choose the Right Wok

When selecting a Chinese wok, opt for one made of carbon steel or cast iron. These materials are durable and conduct heat evenly, making them ideal for stir-frying. Avoid woks with non-stick coatings, as they can hinder the seasoning process.

Step 2: Wash and Dry the Wok
