Peking Duck Recipe at Home

Ingredients:
- 1 whole duck (about 5-6 lbs)
- 4 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp Chinese five-spice powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp sherry
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1-inch piece of ginger, peeled and sliced
- 4 cloves of garlic, peeled
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Remove the giblets from the duck and rinse it inside and out. Pat dry with paper towels.
- In a small saucepan, combine the honey, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, Chinese five-spice powder, salt, sherry, and cornstarch. Heat over low heat until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Stuff the green onions, ginger, and garlic inside the cavity of the duck.
- Using a sharp knife, prick the skin of the duck all over without piercing the meat.
- Place the duck on a roasting rack in a roasting pan. Brush the duck with the sauce mixture, making sure to coat it evenly.
- Roast the duck in the preheated oven for about 2 hours, basting every 30 minutes with the sauce.
- Increase the oven temperature to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and roast for an additional 30 minutes to crisp up the skin.
- Remove the duck from the oven and let it rest for 15-20 minutes before carving.
